Bird stuck in chimney?

There's an animal stuck in the chimney, I can hear it trying to fly out but it can't. However, I have gas fireplace and I would need to get a registered engineer to move it - which obviously would take days and I don't have the money to do it. But I can't stand the thought of it being stuck there and possibly dying - does anyone have any clue how to get it to fly back out?
