Ideas for this essay?
I wrote an essay on this last year. I mainly focused on the college admissions aspect. There are a bunch of cases where qualified white people lost their spot to a minority. What happens is that the majority gets mad because of the reverse discrimination, and then real discrimination increases. Every minority student on campus has to deal with people questioning whether or not he or she is actually qualified to be there, or if they got in because of their race. If really they aren't qualified to be there, they just get totally overwhelmed. It also allows administrators to ignore the real issue: why do we need affirmative action to get these kids into the highly selective colleges? There are problems with the educational foundations in the areas that are highly populated by certain minorities, but people would rather admit them to college unprepared than fix the underlying flaws.
