Why do girls accuse me of following them?

I am walking down the street going home and I just so happen to be going in the same direction as this girl. The funny coincidence is I live in the same building as her so I went in and I even went ahead of her to get a head start so she wouldnt think I am slowly following her to see where she lives but she still thinks I am creepy and stalking her when I am really not! How am I not supposed to follow someone if I am going the same way as them? Girls always misunderstand and are too weary
