My chihuahua suddenly became ill. could she have stepped on pesticide in the yard and ingested it?

she acts like it hurts to walk, she won't eat or hardly drink and wants to hide in a confining, dark space. she can't climb up the step. at first we thought she was bitten or stung by something. we recently sprayed for bugs and fertilized the lawn. could this somehow be related?
